Einstein is, by a wide margin, the most misquoted person on the internet — if he’d actually said everything attributed to him, he’d have had no time left for physics. Some of the quotes below really are his, documented in his own letters and papers. Others aren’t, and I’ve said so plainly.A few worth knowing: “Creativity is intelligence having fun” almost certainly isn’t Einstein’s, despite being one of his most-shared lines. “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new” is another one that doesn’t trace back to him. Meanwhile his real formula for success, A = X + Y + Z, is genuinely documented and rarely gets the attention the fake ones do.
